During the Nine Trades Innovation Internship, I worked at the University of Abertay Dundee creating quick prototypes and interactive toys using Unity. Around 20 prototypes were created over the course of 12 weeks from June - September 2013 to support PhD research conducted by Lynn Parker.
Prototypes were created using C# and also involved the use of the Microsoft Kinect, OpenNI and Zigfu within Unity to experiment with gestures and motion capture. The final prototype, Chreod, was created in the last 3 weeks of the internship for iOS; mainly iPad and iPad Mini.
A paper, titled Abstraction in Experimental Animation and Video Games, was co-authored by Lynn and myself as a result of some of the work completed during the internship. This paper was then presented in Portugal at CONFIA 2013.
An article was written about the Internship in The Courier and The Evening Telegraph, and can also be found here on the Abertay website.
